The EXBODIMENT series is created in collaboration with the performance archive BLACK KIT | THE BLACK DRAWER. The archive for performance art, which is unique in Germany, was founded by artists in 1981 and has since been organized by the artist and co-founder Boris Nieslony. It contains over 4,000 dossiers on performance, theater and sound artists, has collected 10,000 specialist publications, videos and photos in various formats to date, includes performance relics and many meters of shelving on networks from different continents. Through the organization of performance conferences, lectures, live performances, and much more, the living archive sees itself as a source of inspiration for the present.

Rocío Boliver, also known as La Congelada de Uva, lives in Mexico and works worldwide. Since 1992 her performances have formulated a sharp criticism of the oppression of women. In demanding performances, she confronts those present with themes such as sexuality, excretion, pain, old age and illness. She questions her body in an existential way and makes stereotypical ideas in society visible.

EVENT

Open the door the window #3

EXBODIMENT - rocio bolver, congelada de uva

Black Kit’s archive team seeks to investigate this sparking potential and invites performance artists in whose performances – we believe – stringent work-related antagonisms become visible. The Rhineland, which has been a center of performance art since the 1950s, will once again present performances at a top international level with this event series in 2022-2023.
